BJP looks upon victory in Bihar as harbinger of national trend
New Delhi, Nov 24 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari and senior party leader Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday marked the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Janata Dal-United (JD-U) alliance in Bihar as a trend for future victory at the Centre.
Gadkari said that the trend in Bihar election are giving huge thumbs down to incumbent governance in the country and giving support to parties with the goal of development.
"I thank Bihar's population for the victory it has given to NDA (National Democratic Alliance, the BJP-JD-U coalition) in the state. The voters have strengthened Bihar by ending the power of the incumbent and have given way to development," said Gadkari.
"The victory that BJP and NDA have achieved under the guidance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi, is the sign of future governance of BJP at the Centre," he added.
Meanwhile, Swaraj struck a similar tone and said the ruling Congress party should now get upset over its dwindling power in the country.
"It is a great win for the BJP, and I am sure that the country will follow the example of Bihar. One should ask where the magic is gone of which the Congress leaders were talking about. Congress has won even fewer seats than before, Bharatiya Janata Party have increased their seats from 55 to 85," said Swaraj.
"We will create our government by having more than two-thirds majority. The biggest achievement the NDA government that I believe has been through this election is creating the hunger for development in Bihar. And I am sure this hunger will grow in the entire country," she added.
The BJP-JD-U combine has bagged three-fourth majority winning 197 of the 230 seats, results of which have been declared so far.
It is also leading in 30 other constituencies.
The Congress suffered a major electoral setback as it has managed to win only four seats and was leading in three others compared to the nine seats it held in 2005.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) alliance did not fare well in the polls and secured just 18 seats. The alliance had secured 64 seats in the last polls. (ANI)
