'India keeps watch on China's project near border'

SM Krishna
New Delhi, Nov 11: Following China's extended stands at the border areas with India, Foreign Minister SM Krishna stated that India kept a "constant watch" on all activities made by China.

"Government is giving careful and special attention to the development of infrastructure in the border areas opposite China, in order to meet our strategic and security requirements," stated Krishna while speaking in Lok Sabha.

"Indian government gives special attention and facilitate the economic development of these areas like Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh," added Krishna.

Beside broadening its rail link from Lhasa to Xigaze near its border with Nepal, China has also extended its link to Nyingchi, where the country started construction of the world's largest dam near the Arunachal Pradesh border.
