RBI deputy governor Usha Thorat steps down

Mumbai, Nov 10: Successfully completing her five year term, Reserve Bank of India deputy governor Usha Thorat stepped down on Tuesday, Nov 9.

The Central Bank, which released a statement on Thorat bowing out, also announced that RBI deputy governor Shyamala Gopinath will temporarily carry off Thorat's responsibilies.

While in office Thorat took care of banking regulation and supervision, and currency management.
