Navy didn't issue NOC to Adarsh society: CBI

Mumbai, Nov 3: The official of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed that during the investigation in Adarsh society scam, Indian Navy clearly stated that they did not provide 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) for the construction of the building.

"After we sought details pertaining to the Adarsh society, the Navy informed us that NOC was not given for the construction of the building," the CBI official stated on Tuesday, Nov 2.

A huge controversy erupted over Adarsh society in upscale Colaba, hit the Maharashtra government recently, in which the names of the top leaders of Congress including the chief minister of the state, Ashok Chouhan also got involved.

The building was originally meant to be a six-storey structure of house for the Kargil war heroes and widows, was converted into a 31-storey building.

CBI has also written to the Union and the state ministry of environment and forests, seeking details about the clearance given to construction of the building.
