Lucknow, Nov 3: Former Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan, who was expelled from Samajwadi Party in May 2009 for venting his grievances, has been invited back into the party by Mulayam Singh Yadav.

SP supremo Mulayam Singh on Wednesday, Nov 3 revoked the expulsion of Azam Khan, said media reports quoting sources.

SP National General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav has reportedly written a letter to the senior SP leader and a prominent Muslim face of the party, Azam Khan, informing him about Mulayam Yadav"s decision to revoke his suspension.

MR Ram Gopal's letter read, “I am extremely happy to inform you that SP national president Mulayam Singh Yadav has revoked your expulsion from the party. You are requested to continue to serve the party like before."

Azam Khan, formerly a general secretary of the party, was expelled after the 2009 Lok Sabha polls for airing opinions against the party"s growing proximity with former Hindutva icon Kalyan Singh as well as the rising importance being given to Amar Singh.
