Banerjee slams West Bengal's Left Front for anarchic rule
Bankura, Nov 1 (ANI): Trinamool Congress chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) for what she called "letting loose anarchy" in West Bengal.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday after inaugurating three railway projects, Banerjee said: "CPI-M does not let the people live in peace, be it in the villages or in forest areas. I challenge them that they won't get any vote on the election day from these areas. It's an open challenge."
"The people of Darjeeling want peace, people living in the forest areas want peace, the people of Bankura want peace, and people of the country want peace. The problem is that there are certain political parties like the CPI-M, which believe in violence to achieve anything at any cost," she added.
Reading out a list of the number of factories and projects which she inaugurated in her capacity as railway minister in the past one year, Banerjee said: "The CPM will be taken aback when all these (factories and projects) start functioning in full swing. If so many factories can be started in one year, then think of what could be done in five years. There will be no dearth of industries in Bengal."
Pointing to the "huge" brain drain from Bengal in the Left Front's 34 years of rule, Banerjee accused the CPM of destroying agriculture as well as industries in the state
"Areas in this district (Bankura) like Mukutmanipur, Chatna, Sonamukhi and Kotolpur have great tourism potential. The CPM has only captured these areas by using brute force, but has not done anything for their development," she said.
On the issue of development, Banerjee said it can be brought about only by caring for people and everybody irrespective of party colours should participate.
"Keep faith on Trinamool Congress as it is the only hope in Bengal," she added.aising her demand of the withdrawal of forces from the Moaist-affected Junglemahal, Banerjee said her party favours peace through development in the area.
"Peace cannot come from the barrel of a gun but only through development. People all over the state want peace. Joint forces can never bring peace and they should go back," she added. (ANI)
