CAT 2010 begins today

Bangalore, Oct 27: After a botched up year in 2009, the Common Admissions Test (CAT) is set to kick start again for the academic year 2010-11 on Wednesday, Oct 27.

The CAT exam, held annually for admissions into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and 150 other business schools across India, evolved from being a paper-pencil test to an online one in 2009.

CAT 2010 will therefore be the second edition of the online exams, and a litmus test for Prometric, the agency which conducts the test that faced severe criticism over the trouble-marred 2009 CAT.

Prometric now crosses its fingers, along with over two lakh IIM and B-school aspirants, that the 20-day test is completed smoothly.

The test will be conducted online in about 78 centres across 33 cities. Forty different sets of question papers have been prepared for the test that ends on Nov 24.

The results of CAT-2010 is slated to be declared on Jan 12.
