Bihar snubs Naxals; gains 52.5pc vote in 2nd phase

Patna, Oct 25: After the Naxal attack in the state on Oct 22, people in Bihar conquered their fears and 52.5 percent of the 98.44 lakh voters contributed in the second phase of Bihar Assembly polls on Oct 24.

Following the Maoists attack, which killed six police official on Oct 22, Election Commissioner reduced the voting time in the Naxal-hit constituencies by two hours.

The state was wrapped under tight security as Director-General of Police, Neelmani informed paramilitary forces were deployed at most of the polling stations and armed police from other states and the Bihar Military Police maintained a strict vigil.
