AOL to take over search giant Yahoo Inc?

New York, Oct 14: As the search engine giant, Yahoo Inc faced poor financial condition, several private organisations along with AOL approached to take over the internet company, media report claimed.

According the report on Oct 14, talks with News Corp and AOL began about two weeks ago and intensified in recent days, but Yahoo had not yet been approached as talks were still in their early stages.

The report quoted some of the private equator sources as saying, "The conversations may not lead to an approach given the complexities in structuring a proposal."

However, spokespersons for both Yahoo and AOL declined to comment on the regarding matter.

Yahoo shares, which nearly 6 percent up at markets closing on Oct 13, gained another 9.5 percent in extended trading.
