460 Haj pilgrims from TN leave for Jeddah

Chennai, Oct 14: The first batch of 460 Haj pilgrims from Tamil Nadu left for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on the annual pilgrimage on Wednesday, Oct 13, officials said.

M K Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister; Mydeen Khan, state Environment Minister; Kanimozhi,Rajya Sabha MP and Aboobucker, Haj Committee of India Vice-President and Tamilnadu Haj Committee President, were present at the airport to see off the pilgrims.

According to the official sources the total number of Haj pilgrims from the Tamil Nadu this year (2010) is 5,022, which is the highest ever for the state.

The officials urged the pilgrims to strictly abide by the guidelines issued by the State Haj Committee to avoid any inconvenience and reach the Haj House safely.
