Apple plans iTunes music subscription service

New York, Oct 12: Rumors spread in gadget market that the innovative giant Apple Inc is planning to launch a music subscription service to customers.

The New York Post reported that Apple is in talks with record companies for starting an iTunes subscription service. The report says that Apple iTunes chief Eddy Cue has been in meetings with the heads of the major US record labels to figure out logistics for such a service.

The users may have to pay a monthly fee of $10 to $15 for different services accessed through the music subscription. Earlier the iPod maker had acquired a web-based music service Lala in Dec 2009.

A free music subscription service offered by Spotify is available in major Europe countries. The rumors about the Apple iTunes subscription service was spread after media reports about the entry of Spotify in United States through Microsoft Windows Phone 7.
