Kerala: CPI(M) independent MLA quits assembly

Malappuram, Oct 11: Causing embarrassment to ruling LDF in Kerala ahead of the civic polls, CPI(M)-backed independent MLA Manhalamkuzhi Ali on Monday, Oct 11 announced his resignation as member of the House following differences with the party leadership.

Ali, representing Mankada in Malappuram district in the Assembly, was having a strained relationship with CPI-M leadership for the last few months.

Speaking to reporters, Ali said he was no longer prepared to bear the insulting remarks made against him by party leaders in the recent past.

The resignation letter would be handed over to Speaker K Radhakrishnan soon, he said, adding that the CPI-M leadership had been trying to isolate him in the party and he was not being invited for any functions.

"I have become a victim of factionalism in CPI-M though I am not part of any group," Ali.
