Doctors' strike in Delhi hits hospital

Doctors strike
New Delhi, Oct 2: At least 250 doctors at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in Delhi went on strike on Oct 1 after a patient and his attendant allegedly beat up a doctor.

Emergency services in the hospital were immediately suspended, as doctors demanded better security arrangement at the hospital. The strike has not been called off so far despite the management's attempts at negotiating with the doctors.

“We demand police protection for doctors...the guards posted here are on 24 hour duty and they sleep all day and night. All junior and senior residents and those were in wards are on strike. We are not admitting new cases unless they are a severe one," said Dr. Bhupendra.
