Ahmedabad, Sep 29 (ANI): The special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court here on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah, who has been arrested in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case till October 13.

46-year-old Shah was produced before Judicial Magistrate A Y Dave through video-conference from Sabarmati Jail, where he is currently lodged at present since his arrest on July 26.

The court had earlier exempted the BJP leader from personal appearance and allowed him to depose before it via video-conference.

The CBI has charged Amit Shah with murder, extortion, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy.

The Supreme Court handed over the investigation of the case to the CBI on January 12 asking it to place before it the report on the progress of the probe within six months by July 31.

Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausar Bi were killed in an alleged fake encounter in 2005. (ANI)
