Speedy goods train kills 7 elephants in WB

Jalpaiguri(West Bengal), Sep 23: A speedy goods train hit elephants killing seven on the spot while they were crossing a raliway tracks in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on Thursday, Sep 23.

A forest official said that two baby elephants got trapped on the tracks and when other elephants came to rescue the babies, they were hit by high speed train.

Due to this incident the trains on the track which connects New Jalpaiguri with Assam were suspended for hours.

Railway officials have been requesting number of times to restrict the speed limit of trains plying in the area to 40 km/hr for the safety of the elephants, they said.
