Ban on bulk SMS, MMS extended till Sep 29

The Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, in consultation with Home Ministry, had on Wednesday, Sep 22 decided to ban bulk SMSes and MMSes as a precautionary measure in the view of the crucual Ayodhya judgement scheduled to be delivered on Sep 24.
The Supreme Court, however, on the eve of the judgement decided to defer the verdict by a week on a petition filed by retired bureaucrat Ramesh Chand Tripathi.
The apex court, which has issued a notice to all parties involved in the suit, will be hearing the postponement petition on Tuesday, Sep 28.
Taking note of the new schedule in the Ayodhya case, the government decided to extend the ban till Sep 29 as a preventive measure.
