Omar Abdullah hopes for peace on Janmashtami
Srinagar, Sep 2: Hoping that Janmashtami would be harbinger of peace, Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion.
Besides expressing hope that the occasion would be harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity, the Chief Minister, in his message, also wished that the festival would strengthen the bond of amity and communal harmony among people of the state.
The Chief Minister's message seeking peace on the occasion comes in the backdrop of ongoing violence in the Kashmir Valley as civilians and security forces clash leading to several deaths sparking off a circle of violence.
Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand also extended greetings to the people of the state on Janmashtami, celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.
