Kashmir tense over another death, curfew clamped

Violence in Kashmir valley
Srinagar, Aug 31: Death of another youngster instigated further violence in the valley prompting the imposition of curfew in Srinagar, Anantnag and Pulwama districts on Tuesday, Aug 31.

Restrictions were also imposed on the movement of people in parts of Budgam in the view of the tension that arose following the death of Irshad Ahmad, who was injured in a police firing at Sherbagh area on Monday, Aug 30.

Tension was high in Anantnag, located 55 kms from Srinagar. Authorities imposed a curfew in Anantnag as well as adjoining Pulwama district on Tuesday, Aug 31 to prevent any untoward incident.

Reacting to the rumours that the eight people injured in police firing have died, people took to streets in Maisuma, in the heart of Srinagar.

Fearing another eruption of violent protests, a curfew was imposed in Srinagar as well on Tuesday, Aug 31 morning.

On Monday, Aug 30, eight people including three close kin of JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik were injured when police opened fire to quell a stone-pelting mob.
