Brinda Karat slams Pranab for backing Mamata

New Delhi, Aug 30: The Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is now facing flak for backing Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee over her contentious remarks on Maoists, as CPI(M) has accused the Congress leader of acting on political compulsions.

“Being a junior partner of Trinamool in West Bengal, he is trying to defend the indefensible. The Finance Minister is bound by political compulsions," senior CPM leader Brinda Karat said on Monday, Aug 30.

On Sunday, Aug 29, Mr Mukherjee had made a statement in Kolkata that the Union Railway Minister was just trying to facilitate talks with the red rebels and that her remarks did not go to show that she had links with them.
