Nifty ends flat with positive bias

Mumbai, Aug 26: On expiry day for the month of Aug 2010, benchmark Nifty shut shop on a flat note with positive bias. Sensex also closed marginally up.

BSE Sensex closed at 18,226.35, up 46.71 and NSE Nifty ended at 5477.90, up 15.55.

Nifty has seen rangebound trade over the last month. However, it has moved from 5350-5450 to 5450-5550 range.

The markets gained support from Auto, PSU power, PSU oil & gas, capital goods and select financial companies' shares along with ITC, Bharti, DLF, TCS, JSPL, Tata Steel and Tata Power.

The indices were also kept green by European cues and US index futures.

Nifty trades in a range of 5462-5486

Nifty trades in a range of 5462-5486 ahead of expiry. Reliance Industries, TCS, Infosys, Sterlite Industries, HUL, Cipla, SAIL, Reliance Communications along with cement and capital goods companies' shares were under pressure

Realty, auto and financial companies' shares along with ONGC, ITC, NTPC, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, BPCL, Wipro and Reliance Infrastructure were on buyers' radar.

At 2:30 pm, BSE Sensex was 18,222.55 up 42.91 points and NSE Nifty was 5472.25 up 9.90 points.

The active in trading were Reliance, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and SBI.

The top gainers were Power Grid Corp up 2.04 percent, DLF up 1.85 percent, PNB up 1.69 percent and ITC up 1.62 percent.

The top losers were Idea Ambuja Cements down 2.39 percent, Suzlon Energy down 1.71 percent, Reliance Comm down 1.31 percent and Cairn Ind down 1.16 percent.

Trade continues in green, Nifty in tight range
The markets continue trading on green note. Nifty was trading in a narrow range of 5470-5481 with a positive bias led by rate sensitives.

ONGC, ITC, L&T, Tata Steel, Bharti, JSPL, Ranbaxy Labs, Sun Pharma and Hindalco were gaining profit in trade.

Reliance Industries, Cairn, Sterlite Industries, Idea, Reliance Communications, Cipla, Tata Power and HUL along with cement and technology companies' shares were witnessing selling pressure

At 12.30 hrs, BSE Sensex was 18,227.01 up 47.37 points and NSE Nifty was 5475.35 up 13.00 points.

The active in trading were Reliance, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and SBI.

The top gainers were PNB up 2.12 perecent, DLF up 2.01 percent, HCL Tech up 1.95 percent and Tata Motors up 1.92 percent.

The top losers were Idea Ambuja Cements down 2.06 percent, Cairn India down 1.29 percent, Cipla down 0.73 percent and Sterlite Ind down 0.72 percent.

Market opens in green, HCL, PNB up
Market opened in green following the positive bias. The Nifty was trading in a range of 5450-5550.

BPCL, Ranbaxy Labs, HCL Tech, M&M, Hindalco, IDFC, DLF, Unitech, Jaiprakash Associates, ONGC, Suzlon, ICICI Bank, SBI, ITC and Bharti Airtel were witnessing buying interest.

At 9.35 hrs, BSE Sensex was 18237.18 up 57.54 points and NSE Nifty was 5477.90 up 15.55 points.

The active in trading were Reliance, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and Unitech.

The top gainers were HCL Tech up 2.78 percent, PNB up 1.37 perecent, ITC up 1.25 percent and Jaiprakash Asso up 1.17 percent.

The top losers were Idea Cellular down 2.48 percent, Ambuja Cements down 1.73 percent, Kotak Mahindra down 1.19 percent and ACC down 1.13 percent.
