Dell enters smartphone market, unveils Dell Aero
The new smartphone, Dell Aero, features a 3.5-inch screen, a five megapixel camera and weighs just 104 grams, which Dell claimed as one of the lightest smartphones on the market. Aero will run on Google"s Android operating system.
"The Dell Aero is designed to help people find new ways to connect with friends and express themselves socially with features such as built-in Facebook, Twitter and YouTube apps," said Ron Garriques, President of Dell's Communication Solutions group.
By the launch of Dell Aero, the smartphone market faces intense competition between the Google Android mobile OS and Apple iOS. The market research firm iSuppli predicted that Android-powered phones will overtake iPhones in market share by 2012.
Dell is one of the world largest technological corporation. Earlier in 2009 Dell launched a smartphone in China and in Aug 11, 2010, launched the tablet computer Streak.
