Govt to increase MP's salary again?
Government sources told that the new pay hike of Rs 10,000 could be an increase in the form of allowances for phone call and constituency expenses. Earlier the cabinet approved bill to hike MPs' salary from current Rs 16,000 to Rs 50,000.
But the leaders like Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Janata Dal-United chief Sharad Yadav rejected the offer, saying the new salary offer not enough. The salary hike bill is likely to be introduced in Lok Sabha in coming week.
On Saturday, Aug 21, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee met Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh Yadav to discuss about the pay hike issue.
