TN: Youth battles for life after police torture

Chengalpet (Chennai), Aug 21: Ashok Kumar, a law student was allegedly tortured by the police outside Chennai. He was earlier beaten by a bus passenger as there was a quarrel in the bus.

He was later taken to police station and they allegedly stripped and beat him up. The injured student attempted suicide at hospital and is still in a coma.

Based on Ashok Kumar's complaint FIR have been filed against seven police men including two Sub Inspectors for causing hurt and abusing the young man.

The victim is now battling for life at a private hospital and publics' anger have increased over the brutal torture of the young man.

The state government has assured help for all the expenses of the victim.
