Orissa: Brit woman molested by hotel waiter

Bhubaneshwar, Aug 18: Adding to the long and shameful list of crime against foreigners and tourists in India, a 20-year-old British woman was on Tuesday, Aug 17 molested by an employee of a state-run hotel in Orissa.

"The 20-year-old woman from the UK has complained that one of the staff, Subhas Sahu, molested her when she was alone in her room at Jatri Niwas," Puri SP Sanjay Kumar said.

A string of hotels called Jatri Niwas are run by Orissa Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC).

The shameful incident of molestation was reported from the Jatri Niwas located near the Sun Temple. After the woman checked in at around 12:30 pm, the accused allegedly entered her room for serving food.

"Sahu, a waiter at the hotel, has been arrested and booked under section 354 (outraging modesty of a woman) of IPC," the SP informed.

The police also said that the incident came to light just a day after a South Korean couple were attacked by a group of miscreants in Satyabadi area of Puri district.
