New Delhi, Aug 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lashed out at the Left front, RJD and SP for accusing the saffron party of striking a deal with the Congress over support for the Civil Nuclear Bill in exchange of a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the Sohrabuddin case.

"They have every right to talk about the deal because they are masters in striking deals. They saved the government in the Parliament. Who strikes the deal, this is known to everyone. We have nothing to do with Congress. We are giving issue-based support to the government," BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said on Wednesday, Aug 18.

"Whatever concessions we had sought were accepted by the government. When our demands were met, there was no point in opposing the bill. Cornering government and seeking personal favours is not our style of working," he added, stressing that the BJP was only providing issue-based support to the Congress-led UPA government.

Mr Naidu's statements came after the Left, RJP and SP, which constitutes the non-BJP Opposition, equated the move by BJP to back the nuclear bill with CBI giving clean chit to Modi in the 2005 fake encounter case on the arguement that the investigative agency was just a tool in the hands of Congress.

Congress has also rubbished these accusations.

Congress MP Rajiv Shukla said, "All these political speculations are rubbish. There are several bills which are supported by the Opposition. Mulayam Singh and other parties also support some of them. This does not mean that a deal is struck with them."
