UP: 258 arrested for vegetable adulteration

Lucknow: Nearly 260 people have been arrested within a fortnight in Uttar Pradesh for their alleged involvement in adulteration of vegetables, officials said on Sunday, Aug 1.

"During a drive by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched on the directives of the Chief Minister Mayawati, 309 FIR have been registered while 258 people have been arrested across the state for their involvement in either adulteration of eatables or selling such products", an FDA official said.

The FDA team has recovered oxytocin injections, calcium carbine - used to ripe fruits, colours and other such items in large numbers.
