J&K: Sikhs protest against pro-freedom agitators
Srinagar, Jul 30: Kashmiri Sikhs on Jul 29 had announced protest against the pro-freedom protesters, who had allegedly attacked a Sikh youth and chopped off his hair in south Kashmir on Jul 28.
According to DNA report, Sikhs led a protest march from Tral and blocked the Srinagar-Jammu highway for some time. Protests also rocked Digiana area in Jammu.
"Investigations have been put on fast track. The victim has also given his statement about the events. We hope to crack the case soon," said DIG of south Kashmir.
"The security of Sikhs will be ensured and people who try to disrupt communal harmony will be dealt with sternly," said the chief minister Omar Abdullah.
According the daily, the victim Harmeet Singh was stopped by pro-freedom protesters and asked to raise slogans on Jul 28.
Though Singh did as told, protesters beat him up and chopped off his hair.
