Sonia cancels meeting with UK PM

New Delhi, Jul 30: A meeting scheduled between British Prime Minister David Cameron and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, did not materialize.

Officials said that Britain had specifically asked India to schedule meetings with Sonia Gandhi, as well as her son and Member of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi.

Where as the party sources said that no meeting was scheduled as Sonia Gandhi was out of station. There was also no scheduled meeting with Rahul Gandhi.

Gandhi was also not seen in Parliament for the past three days.

However, David Cameron met the Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and External Affairs Minister S M Krishna.

David also held formal discussions with the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
