HC disqualifies Kerala MP for fake SC certificate
New Delhi, Jul 26: Congress Parliamentary Secretary and five-time MP, M Kodikunnil Suresh has been disqualified by the Kerala High Court for producing a fake Scheduled Caste certificate.
Kodikunnil Suresh, who represents the Mavelikkara constituency in Kerala which is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC), is a Cheramar Christian but he allegedly gave a certificate showing him as a Cheramar Hindu, which is a scheduled caste.
Suresh won the general election to the Lok Sabha in 2009 defeating RS Anil of Communist Party of India (CPM) with a margin of 45059 votes.
Suresh serves on the Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
RS Anil told the court that the MP was a Christian according to his school-leaving certificate.
