Control corruption and bureaucracy: Cong asks JK
New Delhi, Jul 22: Senior level Congress Committee meeting asked Jammu and Kashmir government to suppress the growing corruption and non-functioning of the bureaucracy.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Defence Minister AK Antony, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, and senior Congress leaders Saifuddin Soz, Karan Singh and Ahmed Patel attended the meeting on Wednesday, Jul 21 in New Delhi.
Meeting reviewed the performance of the JK coalition government, of which Congress is a constituent. Meeting laid emphasis on district and tehsil-level contact with the people.
Earlier on Saturday, Jul 17, JK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed about the All-party Meeting held in Srinagar on Monday, Jul 12.
