Nifty gains strength at closing

Mumbai, Jul 22: Nifty finally acquired strenth in last one hour on Jul 22.

Financial, metal, telecom, realty, capital goods and select auto companies' shares were leading.

Strong global cues helped the Nifty to close at new 30-month high.

The Sensex closed at 18113, up 136 points and the Nifty was at 5442, up 42 points.

Sterlite Ind, Mah and Mah, GAIL, Ambuja Cements were among the top gainers with 1.38 percent, 1.14 percent, 1.03 percent, 1.02 percent up respectively.

Axis Bank, HDFC, Idea Cellular were among the top losers with 1.59 percent, 1.43 percent, 1.15 percent, 1.15percent down respectively.

Nifty keeps trading flat

Amid less volatility, Nifty continued trading flat. European markets opened on a weak note.

At 1:10 pm, the Sensex was down 21.74 points or 0.12 percent at 17955.49, and the Nifty was down 1.45 points or 0.03 percent at 5397.90. About 1512 shares advanced, 1468 shares declined, and 360 shares remain unchanged.

Realty, oil&gas stocks had witnessed some selling pressure in trade on Jul 22.

However, metal and pharma had watched buying of stocks.

Ambuja Cements, Mahindra and Mahindra, Cairn India were among the largescale gainers with 1.5-2 percent up.

Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,052.50.

Nifty remains on negative note

Nifty continued its negative bias.

Reliance Industries, Infosys, ONGC, ICICI Bank, TCS, L&T, NTPC, SBI, Wipro, BHEL and Bharti Airtel were under pressure.

At 11:57 am, the Sensex was trading at 17934, down 43 points and the Nifty was at 5389, down 10 points. Even the broader indices were rangebound in trade.

Bajaj Auto was the most active counter and gained over 2 percent.

HDFC and Axis Bank along with metal, cement and healthcare companies capped the losses to major extent.

Tata Steel, JBF Industries, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor, Sesa Goa, Reliance Industries, JSW Steel and Reliance Capital were the most active shares on exchanges.

Nifty opens on negative note

Nifty opened with a negative note and it was another day of consolidation for the markets.

Unitech, Reliance Communications, Infosys, ICICI Bank, DLF, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Hindalco, Reliance Industries and TCS had watched the selling pressure.

However, BPCL, Wipro, GAIL and ITC (ahead of numbers) were gainers in early trade on Jul 22.

At 9:01 am, the Nifty was trading at 5387, down 12 points and the Sensex was at 17940, down 36 points. About 353 shares advanced while 360 shares declined on NSE.

Among the frontilners, Idea Cellular was down 2 percent.
