A fresh batch of 2,401 pilgrims leave for Amarnath
Srinagar, Jul 21: A batch of pilgrims consisting 2,401 pilgrims left from the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar to holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas on Wednesday, Jul 21.
The fresh batch which has started the pilgrimage comprises 1,514 men, 572 women, 62 children and 253 sadhus left in a procession of around 70 vehicles at 04:00 hrs, informed the police officials. There were heavy rains in Jammu province, when they started the journey.
They are expected to reach at Baltal and Pahalgam by the evening on Wednesday, Jul 21 to undertake trekking towards the cave shrine.
More than 52,000 pilgrims had left to Amarnath so far since the commencement of yatra on Jun 30. The reports from Srinagar said that as many as 2,65,816 pilgrims have paid tributes at the cave shrine during a couple of weeks.
