Dharna continues over illegal mining in K'taka
Bangalore, Jul 15: Arguing strongly for CBI, opposition carried on their demand in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly for the illegal iron ore mining and export.
Various Congress and JDS members carried their protest against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for the illegal mining scam and demanding a CBI inquiry.
According to the sources, the opposition would continue its dharna in the Assembly till their demand for a CBI probe is met.
"As per the admission of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa himself, the scam is worth Rs 20,000 crore. But in reality, it could go up to Rs 50,000 crore", said Siddaramaiah, leader of the opposition.
"Even today, if you go to Bellary, you can see illegal mining and transportation. Iron ore illegally mined in Karnataka had been shipped out from ports of other States and investigation need to be carried out," he added.
Whereas BJP has alleged that those engaged in illegal mining and exports are mostly leaders of Congress and JDS and their relatives.
