Jagannath rath yatra begins in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Jul 13: Amid tight security, the Rath yatra of Lord Jagannath started from Jagannath temple in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, Jul 13.

As per the tradition, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi cleaned the road outside the temple from where the chariot of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balram and their sister Subhadra will pass.

As the chariot started its journey through the 14km long route including some communally sensitive areas, in old city, thousands of devotees joined the procession.

The main chariots are closely followed by colourfully adorned elephants, trucks, motor vehicles, pilgrims on foot, acrobats and gymnasts.

Four bomb disposal squads (BDS), nine quick response teams, and 27 mobile police control room vans have also been deployed for the yatra in the city.
