Maoist leaders killed in firing; AP on red alert
Hyderabad, Jul 2: As per the latest inputs, two prominent Maoist leaders have been killed in a gun battle in Andhra Pradesh.
In the firing that took place near Sarkepally village of Adilabad district on Friday, Jul 2 morning, two Maoist leaders were reportedly killed.
Communist Party of India (Maoist) central committee member, Cherukuri Raj Kumar was one among those killed.
Cherukuri Raj Kumar, popularly known as Ajad was the party central committee spokesman. He was also believed to be a close associate of Maoist Chief Muppalla Laxmana Rao.
The identity of the other Maoist leader killed in the gun battle is still unknown.
Fearing retaliatory strikes from the rebels, the police has put the state on red alert.
