West Bengal police officer injured in Maoist firing
West Midnapore (West Bengal), June 30 (ANI): At least one police officer was injured when the Maoists fired at a patrolling party in West Bengal's West Midnapore District on Wednesday.
The firing came when the joint security forces team was carrying out routine combing operations in the Birihari forest area of the district.
The injured officer was identified as, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ajay Gupta.
Gupta was rushed to Midnapore Medical College Hospital and his condition was said to be critical.
Police said, reinforcement parties have been rushed to the area to flush out the Maoists. (ANI)
