Jab hope for osteoporosis sufferers
London, June 18 (ANI): A jab to treat osteoporosis could soon be available on the NHS.
Osteoporosis is a disease of bones that leads to an increased risk of fracturr.
The twice-yearly injection offers hope to the more than 100,000 people - most of whom are women - who suffer with osteoporosis but are unable to take existing medication.
Trials of the drug, Prolia, have shown it dramatically cuts the number of spine and hip fractures in women, and helps bones regrow, reports the Daily Express.
Patients do not need to go to hospital because it can be administered by a GP.
Juliet Comptson, professor of bone medicine at Cambridge University, said the jab is 'good news' for patients already suffering bone problems. (ANI)
