Soren acquitted from 1974 double murder case
Ranchi, Jun 15: Shibu Soren, former Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) Chief was acquitted in the 1974-double murder case due to lack of evidence on Tuesday, Jun 15.
He was accused of fostering a mob to kill Chundi Singh and Khirodhar Singh, who allegedly stole two goats. Two of them were killed in Kodko village of Giridih district under Pirtand police station, in Apr 1974.
Ten people were accused in this murder case. The chargesheet against them was filed in 1974. The case had been filed by Bahadur Singh alleging Soren that he was heading the group which killed Khirodhar Singh and Chundi Singh at Kudko village.
Mohammed Qasim, the Additional District Judge read the judgement in the presence of Shibu Soren.
