Rouvanjit's father seeks justice

Kolkata, Jun 15: Rouvanjit's father Ajay Rawla said that he does not want an apology from the school officials, who were responsible for the death of his son. Rawla wants the school to pay for the crime and termination of the principal of Kolkata's La Martiniere School.

"I have not received an apology. I think the principal should be sacked. They will have to pay for their crime," Ajay Rawla told CNN-IBN and added that he never received an apology from the principal for caning his 13-year-old son. He re-iterated that he wants justice for the death of his son.

The Principal of the school had regretted on Monday, Jun 15 for caning the Class VIII student who committed suicide later.

Principal said that he would never cane again and had tendered an apology to the board of governors of the school for the corporal punishment they awarded for the boy, terming that it was a mistake.

He also added that corporal punishment would never again be practised in the school. “The board made it abundantly clear that corporal punishment was strictly prohibited. I apologised to them. It will not be practised any more," the school principal, Chakravarthi had said.
