Jharkhand villagers face water shortage

Latehar (Jharkhand), June 10 (ANI): The residents of several villages in Jharkhand's Latehar District are facing severe water crisis, as the water level of river basin areas is reportedly depleting.

The residents have dig deep in the river sand, and collect drinking water.

Due to the decreasing water level, even the hand pumps fail to provide the villagers with drinking water.

Government officials have approved different projects to meet the water crisis and assured help to the villagers.

"It cannot be denied that due to drought, water scarcity is there in the village. We are surveying the villages and at places where the water is accessible, we have given instructions to Block Development Officers that they should immediately send proposal to dig water holes," said Sudhanshu Bhushan Ram, Deputy Development Commissioner.

"We have received proposals from many of the blocks like Manika, Chandawa, and in these villages proposals to dig water holes have been passed and work has also started," he added. (ANI)
