Group of Ministers to analyse Bhopal verdict
New Delhi, Jun 9: Central government has reconstituted a panel of ministers to analyse the range of issues, after challenged with the massive criticism for the Bhopal tragedy verdict. The members constituting nine ministers will be headed by the Home Minister, P Chidambaram.
Government officials also said that another committee is likely to be organised to discuss about the policies required to deal with the industrial disasters.
Bhopal tragedy was being examined by a Group of Ministers headed by Arjun Singh, during the UPA coalition's first term. Singh is not a minister in the new UPA government and hence the modification of the GoM.
The retired CBI officer, BR Lall, who was in the charge of Bhopal tragedy investigation had revealed that the government had detained them from tracking Warren Anderson, the then chairman of Union Carbide corporation.
