West Bengal train mishap survivors still clueless about missing relatives
Jhargram (West Bengal), May 29(ANI): The survivors of Friday's Gyaneshwari Express mishap near Jhargram in West Bengal's West Midnapore District, which is supposed to have been triggered by suspected Maoists, are still clueless about their missing relatives.
The injured people, who were admitted to various hospitals across the state, are anxiously waiting for information about their relatives travelling with them in the ill-fated Mumbai-bound train.
"I have not been able to find my husband, my brother-in- law and my two other relatives and my own daughter," said Swati Patro, an injured woman.
Scores of anxious relatives have been running from pillar to post trying to gather information, hoping that their loved ones are not among the dead or the injured.
The incident occurred at 1:30 am on Friday when the train was running between Khemasoli and Sardiya stations, about 135 kilometres from Kolkata.
Meanwhile, the death toll has rose to 110, as more bodies were being pulled out from the wreckage of the mangled coaches.
Over 3000 security force personnel were still involved in the rescue operations.
"It will take eight to ten hours more to clean up the track as the tracks are broken. The coaches of the train are lying beside the track but the tracks are damaged," said Jaladhar Shastri, railway worker. (ANI)
