Union Home Ministry to decide Afzal's fate: Sheila
New Delhi, May 21: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday May 21 said that Union Home Ministry will decide on the file pertaining to Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru"s mercy petition.
“The Home Ministry will decide on the issue.We have sent the file to Lt. Governor for further action," Ms. Dikshit said while talking to reporters regarding the Guru"s mercy petition.
On Wednesday May 19, Delhi Government had sent the file on Guru to Lt. Governor Tejendra Khanna unambiguously backing the capital punishment for the convict but the Lt. Governor had returned it on Thursday May 21 seeking more clarifications.
Meanwhile, the city government had asked the Center to take care of the law and order situation while carrying out the execution here.
