Delhi Govt firm on Afzal Guru's death sentence
New Delhi, May 20: Delhi Government is firm on the capital punishment for Afzal Guru, the Parliament attact convict. It has returned his mercy petition file to Lieutenant Governor's (LG) office.
Delhi Government reiterated its support for the Supreme Court Verdict that Afzal Guru should be sentenced to death for the 2001 Parliament attack case.
The Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna had sought more clarifications from Delhi Government, before returning his file.
Afzal Guru will be sent to gallows, once the file is forwarded to the President and if there is no further changes in the stands taken by the state government and the Home Ministry.
