PM calls high-level meeting on Naxal strategy
New Delhi, May 18: A day after Maoists blew up a bus carrying policemen, killing over 30 people including civilians, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called for a high level meeting to review the government's strategy against Naxals.
The meeting will be attended by Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram, National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon and Union Home Secretary G K Pillai and other home ministry officials.
The chief minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh is also reportedly on his way to the national capital to meet the Prime Minister on the issue.
On Monday, May 17, a bus carrying policemen was blown up by the ultras in Sukma area of Dantewada district.
As per the latest reports bodies of 31 people have been recovered. The bodies included 16 special police officers (SPOs) and 15 civilians.
This attack came as a brutal reminder of the Apr 6 Datewada massacre, during which Maoists ambushed a CRPF camp in the forests of the district and butchered over 76 CRPF and police personnel.
