Tharoor row ends, Cong attacks BJP over corruption
New Delhi, Apr 19: After quickly making Shashi Tharoor to step down in the wake of the IPL controversy, the Congress has taken the opportunity to launch an attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its inaction against corruption cases.
"Congress has always taken a high moral ground. BJP has never done this whether it was Tehelka, George Fernandes or the demolition of the Babri mosque," party spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan said while speaking to reporters outside Parliament House.
She referred to the corruption allegations against the Reddy brothers of Karnataka- State Tourism and Infrastructure Development minister, G Janardhana Reddy and State Revenue Minister, G Karunakara Reddy.
The mining barons who run the Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC) in Andhra Pradesh have been accused of indulging in various illegal activities including encroachment of reserve forest areas.
"BJP is quick to criticise but has never taken action," Natarajan said.
