On board Air India One, Apr 17: While the country is waiting to hear the Prime Minister's verdict on Shashi Tharoor-IPL controversy, Manmohan Singh, who was returning home after the BRIC summit, gave a safe answer when questioned on the row.

To a question on his stand on the Tharoor-IPL row and the uproar in the Parliament over the issue, all that the Prime Minister had to say was - "Politics has its ups and downs."

He did not elaborate on his statement.

On his arrival, Dr Singh is expected to hold meeting with Sonia Gandhi and Congress leaders on the controversy and take a decision.

When he was questioned earlier in Washington after the completion of Nuclear Security Summit, the PM said that he would return to India and look into all the 'facts' and decide on the action, if any needed. He said that he did not wish to make statements based on hear-says and newspaper reports.

The final decision on Tharoor is expected to be taken before the Parliament re-convenes on Monday, Apr 19.

Ever since the controversy related to the IPL Kochi bidding surfaced, the Opposition has been putting pressure on the UPA demanding the removal of the Minister of State for External Affairs alleging that he misused his power and authority.
