IPL row: Tharoor fails to win trust of Congress
New Delhi, Apr 17: Shashi Tharoor has not only failed to convince the Opposition but has also failed to win over the trust of his own party over the Indian Premier League controversy.
The Congress is reportedly not convinced by the Minister of State for External Affairs' explanation of his role in the IPL Kochi bidding.
Besides this, there are reports that Congress probe committee has found prima facie evidence of impropriety in the Kochi IPL deal.
The fate of the minister hangs in balance as the prime minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are expected to meet and discuss the issue to decide upon the required action.
The PM, who has been out the country to attend the Nuclear Security Summit in US and BRIC summit in Brazil, is expected to return to the country on Saturday, Apr 17.
Dr Singh will be holding meetings with Sonia Gandhi and Congress leaders later in the day.
