Navi Mumbai polls: NCP bags 55 seats
Mumbai, Apr 12: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) calimed victory in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) elections by bagging a majority with 55 seats.
The people, however, dished out a embarrassing debacle to the Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena came up in the second spot, NCP's ally in the state government bagged just 11 seats.
The Navi Mumbai civic polls was held on Sunday, Apr 11 and saw 56.73 per cent voter turnout amid clashes between NCP-Congress workers and rioting incident.
Civic polls were also held in Aurangabad, Ambernath and Kulgaon Badlapur on the same day.
