Bangalore, Apr 12: The fire at the Konark Hotel on the Residency Road here has claimed no lives nor cause any injuries, thanks to the police and fire personnel, who were able to bring the raging fire under control quickly.

The fire tenders were able to douse the flames in a short span. Meanwhile, the police and other personnel evacuated the building and also tried to clear off by-standers and traffic so that the rescue operations were unhindered.

The fire broke out between 1:45 and 2 pm on Monday, Apr 12 on the fifth floor of the building in the NYX (also known as NYK's) pub, which is part of the hotel. The fire has completely gutted out the pub.

The popular pub is generally crowded during the weekends. However, since the fire broke out on the weekday there were barely any people inside making the operations a little easier.

The hotel and the pub are part of the five-storey Gold Towers building located in one of the busiest parts of the city.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The personnel were able to lead a successful operation at the commercial building after failing miserably at the Feb 23 Carlton Tower fire, during which the traffic and by standers made the conditions worse leading to loss of nine lives.
